The Darling Chef show is about teaching recipes from within the diner to a live audience. We are bringing Philadelphia cuisine to the world. Several guest chef's from other neighborhood eateries are lined up for fall 2010 shows. Darling's Co-owner and award winning cheesecake king, Harry Darling explains the impetus for the show: "I was Inspired by the interaction with our customers. Folks would ask do we make this... and the rest is history!" He learned the ins and outs of the food-service industry working his way up as busboy, waiter and bartender for many years under great people including George Perrier and Le-Bec Fin. As steward of the famous dessert cart at Le-Bec Fin with over 30 desserts on the tray, he always liked describing food to the guests and how its made to more inquisitive guests. "It's a pleasure to be able to do the same thing in a more casual atmosphere! "
Our goal with the Darling Chef is to impress our guests and teach them how to impress their house guests while at the same time building a sense of community amongst other Philadelphia restauranteurs. "When we were invited to come on the NBC10 show in February 2009, customers wanted more so we decided to continue in our own environment. The Piazza is" the" place to have a show, it's an amazing backdrop."
